The Tilden Sweater from McCoy’s is one of our favourite knitwear offerings this Autumn/Winter season! Inspired by the classic sportswear sweater adorned by Cricket players worldwide. The earliest version of this style of knit is often linked to Foster & Co, an old London Clothier, who started making & selling sports jumpers as early as the 1840’s. These classic sweaters began to make their way into the everyday wardrobe in the 20’s, as a versatile piece of clothing.Â
Made in Japan from a 5-gauge slub cotton, with cable knit construction throughout (introduced to make a sturdier knit) while contrasting stripes on the waist and collar would represent team colours, but in this case a nice point of difference. Ribbed hem & cuffs with woven McCoy sportswear label complete the look.Â
